Long ago Google Earth View offers its service on Android phones , a service with which it is possible to harness the power of Google Earth to enjoy there wallpaper with stunning satellite images.

Those responsible for Google recently explained how Earth View is simply that: "a collection of thousands of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet, seen from space."

The service was available on Android devices and also on screensavers for Chromecasts and Google Home family devices, and now they have expanded the collection with 1,000 new images selected especially to be part of this particular exhibition that anyone can also enjoy in their computer.

On the website of the service there is a search engine in the form of an earth map with small points that allow identifying different photos in different countries of the world. We can also enjoy a presentation mode or download the images that we like the most - available in 4K resolution - with the options that appear on the screen when you move the mouse over those images.

As they explain in Google, those Google Earth images come from satellites with Landsat 8 high resolution sensors , although aerial photographs are also used and three-dimensional maps of the terrain are created using NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission. The images, such as those we have used in this article —Puerto de Santa María in Cádiz, and Pico del Teide, in Tenerife—, are certainly spectacular.

As they explain in Engadget , each of these images is copyrighted , although they can be used perfectly for non-commercial uses such as placing them on our desktop background. There are alternatives such as NASA's Worldwind, which allows something similar and publishes public domain images, although its interface is more complex.
