Honor, the second Huawei
brand globally has announced three new phones in the Honor 20 range, one for
each type of pocket according to its power.
Honor has presented today in London three new phones, Honor 20, Honor 20 Lite, and Honor 20 Pro, three phones of humble prices but with a great emphasis on high resolution
cameras and design.
Its immediate predecessor would be the Honor View 20, which almost
shares its name, but is part of another category and was announced last
January.
They
could not be announced at a worse time after the
Google veto of Huawei, Honor's parent company; but the marketing
machinery, the presentations and the launches of the world of technology
sometimes do not understand politics. The show must go on.
The new Honor
20 will not have problems of
compatibility either with Google services or with their updates or with their apps, because they advance for a short time at the beginning of
the veto and because the phones that Huawei has managed to approve for its
launch in the market they should suffer the punishment of the West.
George
Zhao, president of Honor, has
taken advantage of the press conference to reinforce his vision of the company
and direct a message of gratitude "to fans and consumers", ignoring
the elephant in the room.
It is something that managers and representatives
of the company have imitated. "We
must be very careful with the message we send", they assured
in the presence of the Spanish media while pointing to Huawei's position as the
one they were going to have to follow.
HONOR 20, HIGH RANGE AT
A COMPETITIVE PRICE
For
their prices, the Honor 20 is distributed as follows:
- Honor
20 Lite for 299 euros, with 4GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage
- Honor
20 for 499 euros, with 6GB of RAM and
128GB of storage
- Honor
20 Pro for 599 euros, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
As
it characterizes Honor since its arrival in the western market, its mobiles
have an updated design, very competitive prices and the components of
Huawei's previous release. In this case, the P30 is the
reference from which they start.
Honor has emphasized the Honor 20 Pro, as it is the most powerful of the group: Kirin
980 processor, battery that should last more than a day of use, a large OLED screen, fingerprint
reader on the side of the phone, camera perforated frontal and a system of four
rear cameras, that would be its great trick.
But except in the battery is almost the same as the Honor 20, which has a little less capacity, but the same screen size (6.26 inches) and a
little less thick (for that the Pro has more battery).
The main the camera of the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro has an IMX586 sensor of 48MP and focal length of F1.4 of Sony and includes
improvements by artificial intelligence, as well as a night mode. If it
works like the P30 Pro, it could be a great
camera at a lower price than normal.
The other three lenses are more humble. In
the Honor 20 Pro, you have to add a wide
angle of 16 megapixels and 117 degrees of angle, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical
zoom (and 5x hybrid) and a 2
megapixel macro lens for very close shots, up to 4 cm focal
length. In Honor 20, the telephoto lens is replaced by a sensor only for blurring photos in portrait
mode.
His 'younger' brother does not have such
cutting-edge characteristics. The Honor 20 Lite will have three rear
cameras, a slightly smaller screen, a traditional fingerprint reader on the
back and front, the classic ' notch'
in the shape of a drop of water.
Finally, the three mobiles have performance improvements for video games. According
to Honor, its Turbo 3.0 GPU technology, "increases the gaming
possibilities of the device by offering users an enhanced visual and tactile
experience."
Honor makes a bet for the design with two very original colors for its
backs, being the purple the most striking with a difference; but also to
adapt the great characteristics of the P30 to public with less income and
less concerned about certain details
here absent, such as the fingerprint reader, water resistance or wireless
charging.
They are elements that not everyone will miss
and that they reduce the price of the product by almost half, keeping the
camera, the most important element for the public along with the battery.
Failing to know how Huawei phones will be, the Honor 20 could be their last big releases in the
West or the last ones with an Android version or the last ones
that will have security updates and access to the apps that we all know. In
the coming months, we will know.
ALLIANCE WITH MOSCHINO
As usual in Chinese brands, Honor has teamed
up with a Western design brand of relative popularity to infect it's glamorous
mobile phones.
In this case, it is still Moschino. The
Honor 20 Moschino Edition will feature a user interface theme designed by
Moschino, a phone case and a purse. In turn, the back of the Honor 20
Moschino has a special color in black and gold and will be on sale in stores of
the brand from June.
