YouTube uses Wikipedia for defeating conspiracy theory - the Wikimedia Foundation did not know the plan
A lot of conspiracy theories such as "the airborne clouds are spraying harmful chemicals" and "lunar landing is fabricated" are rampant on YouTube. YouTube announced that it is preparing a function to get rid of such conspiracy theory. If conspiracy theory was uploaded, it would be linked to the related Wikipedia article, which must be one effort, but I could not think it was a very good idea.
Including this article, the criticism of YouTube's plan is, in short, "Are you trying to pass the responsibility to remove harmful content to a third-party organization that is managed by volunteers?" But as it became clear today (Thursday, 3/14 U.S. time) it seems that the third party was not aware that it was trying to pass responsibility.
The executive director of Wikimedia Foundation, Katherine Maher, Tweeted that YouTube's plan is "YouTube do it yourself", regardless of the organization of Wikipedia. After that, Wikimedia said in an official statement, "We had not received advance notice."
I do not know. It is independent of YouTube by ourselves.
Wikimedia, on the other hand, is most welcoming that content can expel harmful conspiracy theory and use it to disseminate accurate knowledge. But it seems that YouTube believes it was okay for some contact to happen before announcing this plan at SXSW.
Perhaps it was that the Illuminati had kept the fact that YouTube could not be contacted in advance. Although it is not certain whether it is the matter of an airplane cloud or the matter of lunar landing ...
